Francis to Speak at WoodWORKS Luncheon
The principal of Lapointe Architects, Francis, has been asked to present some of his work at the upcoming 2009 Wood Design Conference to be held in late February in Sudbury and Winnipeg . Francis' presentation will describe the use of non-dimensional wood for the construction of green buildings. A review of the use of small diameter logs to create simple organic structures will be followed by the use of wood in the moist environment of the award winning Fifth Town Artisan Cheese Factory. From the footings to the roof, Fifth Town is constructed of wood including FCS lumber, reclaimed local barn beams and Durisol, a stay-in-place concrete wall form system made with waste wood chips and filled with concrete.
