Atikameksheng Anishnawbek First Nation - Fire Arbour

Naughton, Ontario

This 1,200 sq/ft spiritual structure is located on the sacred grounds of the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek First Nation in Northern Ontario. The form is evocative of a traditional bent sapling wigwam, but instead utilizes round log formed into arched bow trusses. A central opening allows smoke to drift out, while low glazing provides views of the water and mountains beyond. The structure is clad with rough-saw boards and cedar shingles.
